Homemade Muesli...

We are not fans of shop bought granola or muesli - they are filled with sugar and preservatives and it's just not worth it when it's so easy to make your own.

And of course it's extremely versatile - you just have your oats base, add in all your favourite granola ingredients and BAM.

Ingredients:

4 cups organic rolled oats

2 cups rice puffs (or you can use rice krispies)

1 cup flaked almonds or chopped nuts

1 cup pumpkin seeds

1 cup flaked coconut

1/2 cup activated buckwheat

1/2 cup quinoa puffs

1 cup agave

I usually have a big jar of mixed dried fruits and just add a big handful of that at the end, but use whatever dried fruit you enjoy.

Method:

Basically you just put everything in a big container and give it a good mix so that you are confident the agave has coated everything well, and then lightly toast it in the oven on 150 celsius.

Make sure you watch it and turn it over every few minutes with a wooden spoon. You just want everything to be heated enough so that the agave coats everything and gives it a nice sweet outer layer.

When you remove it from the oven, let it cool and toss it every few minutes to allow it to cool through.

It should crisp up during this cooling down process, and when fully cooled it's time to add your dried fruit - mix it through and store in a covered container or jar.

This should give you a good weeks supply of breakfasts for 2-3 people.

Best served with vegan yoghurt/plant milk, and fresh fruit.

I love peaches and vanilla soy yoghurt, or another favourite is to use it AS a topping on my nice cream ;)
